What is going on? Abbas resigns, Arafat has not been pushed out of Israel and World Leaders think they can still get a peace treaty in Israel. Do you seem to be getting the feeling that something is up and not quite sure what it is? Well for true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, I believe we are all beginning to see that time is short for this old earth as we have known it. THE MIDDLE EAST “ROAD MAP”: PAVING THE ROAD TO ARMAGEDDON?

The “Road Map” being forced on Israel by the “Quartet”—The U.S., U.N., E.U., and Russia—is a disastrous mistake to our natural human eye. However, it may be paving the way for the climax of history and the most catastrophic war ever to afflict the world: The Battle of Armageddon. This may be the outcome even though some orchestrating it, particularly President Bush, have the best of intentions. I do not think that our president intentionally wants to harm Israel, but as the “choir director” of the Quartet, he is inviting judgment on America and we need to keep him in daily prayer. No one can “divide” God’s Land without courting judgment (Joel 3). And before you get overly anxious with his actions, also remember that God may be deliberately blinding the president to speed up the “end-time clock” that hastens towards midnight. Certain things must happen and only then will the end come (Luke 21:9). The “Road Map” may be one of them.
Here’s why the “Road Map” is different from Oslo I, Oslo II, Camp David Accords, the Tenet and Mitchell Plan, and more. The European Union has stated that if the U.S. cannot pull this plan off successfully, then the E.U. will step in and take over. Who comes out of the E.U., or the “Revived Roman Empire”? “Mr. Fix It”—the Antichrist. According to Daniel 9:27, his first supernatural act will be to “confirm a covenant” between Israel and her enemies. We have no idea if the “Road Map” is that “covenant” but it is in the realm of possibility.
So keep in mind that God may be blinding President Bush for all that has to happen as our “end-time clock” rushes towards Midnight. Many last days’ events still have to play out, and then the end shall come. But with America and other members of the “Quartet” forcing this “Road Map” on the Israelis, the only likely outcome of it is the fact that her enemies are rearming and regrouping for more strikes against her in the future.
How the world longs for peace now! Peace in the Middle East, Africa, with North Korea and more. Our victory in Iraq has bolstered “peace awareness” worldwide. No, peace isn’t breaking out all over, but a longing for it is stronger than ever. Remember, Daniel 8:25 says that the Antichrist shall destroy many through peace. He will come in by peace. Have you noticed recent headlines? “Peace Is Imminent!” “Militants Accept Ceasefire.” “Edging Towards Peace!” “Peace: It’s Not a Pipedream.” It actually is a pipedream until Antichrist brings it on.
So what is shaping up is the pre-Tribulation “false peace.” “Peace, peace, when there is no peace (Jeremiah 6; I Thessalonians 5:3). When they say peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes. This longing for peace will usher in the Antichrist and usher in the Tribulation which culminates with the Battle of Armageddon. The “Road Map” is simply hastening that day. So, “Look up and know your Redeemer draws nigh” (Luke 21:28).
